Welcome to the Junior Professorship for »Artificial Intelligence (AI) - Application in Production and Logistics«
In the era of advancing digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and methods of modeling and simulation are playing key roles in the transformation of production and logistics processes. The Junior Professorship is dedicated to researching, developing, and deploying these technologies to analyze, plan, control, and optimize processes and systems in field of production and logistics.
The integration of AI methods as well as modelling and simulation techniques opens up a wide range of possibilities: AI systems excel at analyzing vast quantities of data, identifying patterns, and supporting decision-making processes. In contrast, modelling and simulation methods allow the virtual representation and analysis of complex processes and systems. The integration of both worlds enables innovative solutions such as the simulation-based synthesis of training data or the deployment of reinforcement learning algorithms in interactive agent environments.
Our mission is to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in AI, modelling, and simulation methods, specifically tailored for challenges in production and logistics. At the same time, we foster close collaborations with industry partners for developing practical solutions and promoting knowledge transfer between academia and the business sector.
In organisational terms, we are part of the Institute of Logistics and Material Flow Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
